In The Mood To Be Outraged?
Simply unbelievable. Every time I think about this or anything remotely like it i just get incensed. If you live in the Wisconsin area, you’ve no doubt heard this tragic story with the recent and even more tragic outcome.
Long story short - pregnant mother and 10yo daughter killed by drug addict/alcoholic ex-doctor who has since been set free by a really moronic Judge…most likely to do it again.
My good friend and colleague Patty Gale has the full story (with video) on her personal blog, entitled Common Sense - RIP. If you do live in the area, click the banner above and sign the petition…judges like this should be disbarred…at least, and all the far-to-liberal politicians need to take heed.
No matter where you live, I’d love your thoughts on this when your done.
Thanks much for reading,
Dennis

Oh my god, this is horrible. I wonder what goes through the mines of these so called judges and law enforcers. My heart truly goes out to the family and friends.

@Patty Gale, With so much press surrounding it, it should be interesting to se how the trial goes. I don’t envy whatever Judge gets saddled with that mess.

I wonder if in cases like that, if you made the judge responsible for what this newly-freed criminal did, if that would make the judges less likely to release these people. Say this guy kills someone else in a DUI… send him and the judge that released him to jail. Bet less people would get released that way.

wtf????
her title “common sense - rip” is right. what the hell is this judge thinking??
man my heart goes out to their family and friends
the judge needs to be smacked and belongs off the court seating and anything that involves real actual judging of anything
the ex-doctor should’ve done what he’s supposed to be doing and that is helping save lives man this kind of thing really urks me!

Well, me being me, I’m going to take a slightly different tack on this, only because I have many questions.
One, what was the reason the judge lowered the bail? I haven’t been able to find that out, so it’s possible that, by law, he had to do it.
Two, even lowering the bail, $500,000 is a big chunk of change. There really aren’t as many doctors in the country who have that kind of money, let alone could come up with it, so I’m still sort of surprised someone was able to come up with it.
Three, I have to admit that I’m kind of surprised there was even bail in this case, because my mind is saying if the guy was under orders to never drive again, and he was, that it has to be a violation of parole of some sort, which means he violated parole and should immediately be sentenced for something else; are we missing another part of the story here?
I really do sympathize with the family here, but there’s a lot of information left out for me to make a truly informed decision. But he deserves to receive the ultimate punishment whenever he does go to trial, or plead guilty.

@Mitch, I gotta go with ya on #3 Mitch. Obviously at least one previous judge dropped the ball already by not giving him some sort of jail time on previous offenses.
That way it would be a parole violation, which I don’t believe they can overlook no mater how liberal they are.
Btw, I appreciate you leaving comments on Patty’s blog as well. Now many people actually click the links.

What an outrage. I try to be objective when I read stories like this - try to put myself in the shoes of both parties.
But, sorry - can’t come up with an excuse for the druggie doc. Very sickening.

How can a judge allow the doctor to be released on bail knowing that the same thing can just happen over again. If the doctor was out of control before the accident what he going to be like now. What a terrible loss of life so unnecessarily.

Hi Dennis, It really does defy common sense to see something like that happen when the guy should be behind bars rather than driving around drunk again.
A friend of mine is going through something similar. His neighbor set his house on fire (it was put out before the home burned down) and tried to blow up his car. After investigating police said an occupant of the half-way house next door was seen doing it and admitted his guilt. The the police told my friend nothing could be done because he is mentally handicapped. I guess he’s supposed to live next to this place until the guy kills him and his wife. Just unbelievable. I’m with Pheak, “Common Sense - RIP” is right!

Thank you all so much for your support for the Bukosky family.
Yes, there are some updates. Apparently, Mark Benson’s mother and stepdad had posted his bail.
Within 3 weeks, he was back in jail. A local FedEx delivery driver was making a delivery to the house and noticed that it was for prescription drugs by mail.
He also knew Benson’s history and tipped off police who searched the house, arrested Benson and found 6 guns and 20,000 rounds (Yes, you read that right!) of ammunition.
So, at least for now, Benson is back behind bars with little chance of getting released again before his trial.

@Patty Gale, My goodness, Patty; this story just got even more bizarre than it initially started. What the heck does anyone do with 20,000 rounds of ammo; no, we know what they do. Sheesh; sounds like disaster averted, eh? Thanks for the update.

Hi
This is terrible. So much crime is committed by re-offenders. It may sound harsh, but more people should be locked up for life for the safety of the community.

This is unbeleivable, sad, enraging, frustrating. The law, as far as I know it, is meant to punish the perpetrator.
Guess I was wrong.
Very sad.
(p.s.: If we can’t look to the law for justice and decide to do something about it, I bet the law would be real quick to prosecute us if we so much as looked at the perpetrator the wrong way).
